FEBRUARY 12, 2013
Hi there!  Happy Valentine's Day, almost.
I'm sorry I missed the last meeting, but Linda was kind enough to take some notes for me.
The next best thing to being there!  Thanks, Linda!
THE JANUARY MEETING had discussions about future program ideas.  The consensus was that we'd like to have a guest presenter in the near future.  Some ideas will be pursued.  Anyone with suggestions should contact Yvette.  My question is this:  Do we still have access to the space at COD, or do we need to plan for this to be at the Naperville Art League, or will that depend on how neat or messy the class would be?  Yes,...a run on sentence.
Also, ideas for member demos are welcome.
NAPERVILLE ART LEAGUE'S PUBLIC ART COMPETITION deadline is February 16, 2013.  The competition is open to everyone, and the theme is "Completely Different".  Prizes will be awarded.  Visit napervilleartleague.com for details.  The artist's reception and award presentation will be on the afternoon of March 17th.  It would be wonderful if someone from Divas was to participate,...show some face, ladies!
THE WISCONSIN MUSEUM OF QUILTS AND FIBER ARTS IN CEDARBURG, WISCONSIN is having a show, "Taking Flight".  Our very own Camille will be displaying one of her pieces!  Woo-hoo, Camille!!!!  An artist's reception will be in early-February, and the show will be from January 9th until April 7th, 2013.
Check it out at http://wiquiltmuseum.com
GIBBY'S WINE BAR AND MARKET at 1772 S. Randall Rd, Geneva, IL will have a one night show on February 22nd, 2013.  Sharon Malec will be one of those on display!  (She's so prolific!)  The times are from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.  She says that there are opportunities for other artists to display here in the future for free.  Check it out for both reasons.  One:  to see Sharon's work.
Two:  to have more exposure to the world.  (Keep it clean, ladies!)
THE ANDERSON ART CENTER IN MILWAUKEE will have an exhibit which will include the work of Alice!  January 27 - March 4, 2013.  Check it out at www.andersonartscenter.com/exhibits.html.  The shoe exhibit will then travel to THE CHICAGO FLOWER AND GARDEN SHOW.  More info is needed on that, as I don't know if that means at the Chicago Botanical Gardens in Glencoe, or Navy Pier or what.  I assume Navy Pier.  Way to go, Alice!  You go, girl!
SHARON MALEC WILL BE TEACHING A FIBER ART CLASS at the Morton Arboretum.  Sharon, we need more info.  I checked the website, but couldn't find the class info.  On the other hand, I am basically computer illiterate, so maybe I"m the only one who'd have a problem with that.  Doh!
CHALLENGE DUE AT MARCH MEETING!  Just a gentle reminder that if you are participating in the dimensional fiber art challenge, it's a' comin'!  You have about 6 weeks to complete this project. Complete info on this was in last months newsletter.
OUR NEXT MEETING IS ON FEBRUARY 25TH, same time, same place.  Hope to see you there so we can discuss guest presenters and member demos.  Thanks for reading!  Keep on quilting or whatever it is you do do.
xxxooo,  Laurie
